In Australia, the city of Melbourne is hosting IEM Melbourne 2025 from April 21 to 27, where teams are competing for a $125,000 prize pool. The tournament has already delivered plenty of highlights and unexpected results, including strong performances from underdogs and shocking losses from tournament favorites. One of the most talked-about moments so far came in the match between FaZe and The MongolZ, when player Senzu accidentally “gifted” the bomb to an enemy through smoke. Despite the blunder, The MongolZ not only won the round but also the entire series — a reminder that even the smallest moments can be crucial at big tournaments.

What happened

During a group stage match between FaZe and The MongolZ, a hilarious mishap occurred. In the 20th round, with the score at 8:11, The MongolZ — playing on the T side — pushed onto the A site to plant the bomb. A smoke grenade was deployed in the connector to the CT spawn, allowing two players to move forward safely.

The bomb was in Senzu’s hands, but a CT player was hiding behind the smoke. Trying to throw a flashbang, Senzu accidentally tossed the bomb mid-jump — directly into the hands of the defender. Amazingly, this didn’t stop The MongolZ from securing the round. While the incident didn’t cost them the win, had the scoreline been closer, such a mistake could’ve led to defeat or even elimination from the tournament.
