The IEM Melbourne quarterfinals delivered unexpected results and plenty of standout moments. Falcons and The MongolZ continue their quest for the championship title, while GamerLegion and Liquid bid farewell to the tournament, finishing in 5th–6th place. Here’s how the decisive matches played out before the semifinals.
GamerLegion vs Falcons
Despite a confident showing earlier in the tournament, GamerLegion seemed unprepared for this matchup. Both maps ended in dominant wins for Falcons: Train (13:3) and Nuke (13:4). The best player of the series was young sniper m0NESY, who recently joined the team. If Falcons can maintain this level of form, they could be serious contenders to challenge Vitality, the tournament favorites.
m0NESY’s stats:
- Most kills: 30
- Highest average damage: 86.9
- Overall rating: 1.55

Here’s one of his highlight moments on Nuke:
And a funny moment—NiKo accidentally fell to his death at the start of a round, leaving his team a man down:

The MongolZ vs Liquid
This match turned out to be one of the most exciting quarterfinals, going the full distance across three maps. Both teams entered in great form: Liquid had eliminated NAVI, Virtus.pro, and MIBR, while The MongolZ took down FaZe and Complexity.
The opening map Anubis went to Liquid with a confident 13:5 win. But the second map, Ancient, saw a reversal as The MongolZ responded with a 13:6 victory.
The deciding map was intense. In round 20, The MongolZ were on the verge of closing the game, planting the bomb and securing a 3v1 advantage. However, due to low health and weak weapons, they couldn’t convert, and Twistzz clutched the round for Liquid.
Despite that moment, it was The MongolZ who came out on top. Unfortunately for Liquid, their IGL siuhy couldn’t find his rhythm and ended the match with a rating of just 0.8.
The MVP of the match was 910, who recorded:
- Most kills: 56
- Highest average damage: 92.9
- Top rating: 1.34

Semifinals set for IEM Melbourne:
- MOUZ vs Falcons
- The MongolZ vs Vitality
We’re heading into an exciting semifinal stage. In the first matchup, MOUZ will face Falcons—two squads showcasing consistency and strong team play. The second semifinal features The MongolZ taking on Vitality, where the rising Asian roster will attempt to halt the winning streak of the tournament favorites. Both matches promise to be thrilling and high-level, with the winners advancing to the grand final of IEM Melbourne.
