In a bold move that has sent ripples through the competitive Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) scene, North American esports organization FlyQuest announced the acquisition of the Australian CS2 team formerly known as Grayhound. This development marks FlyQuest’s debut into men’s Counter-Strike, expanding their portfolio which already includes significant achievements in League of Legends within the LCS. The roster, consisting of players dexter, Vexite, Liazz, aliStair, and INS, recently competed under the name Jeeves following the shutdown of Grayhound.

Grayhound’s journey came to an end after the team’s failure to secure a spot in the PGL Major Copenhagen, concluding their seven-year run with a heartfelt message on X about the dream coming to an unfortunate close. This announcement came shortly after their loss to Lynn Vision in the Asia RMR, which sealed their fate away from the Major stage.

Despite these setbacks, the team, particularly known for reaching IEM Rio Major and BLAST.tv Paris Major with notable performances, is poised for a resurgence. The reintegration of dexter, who returned after stints with MOUZ and Fnatic, brings veteran leadership and experience back to the squad.

FlyQuest’s commitment to this new endeavor is clear, with Christopher “PapaSmithy” Smith, the organization’s President and CEO, emphasizing the broader mission beyond just competitive success. As an Australian himself, PapaSmithy views this move as a beacon of hope for the Australian esports landscape, which he believes is in dire need of upliftment and support from the global community.

The organization’s Chief Culture Officer, Stephanie “missharvey” Harvey, outlined the immediate plans to ensure the team’s smooth transition and preparation for upcoming challenges. Among these is a planned European bootcamp aimed at bolstering the team’s cohesion and strategic depth in time for their debut under the FlyQuest banner at IEM Chengdu. There, they will face formidable opponents, including Cloud9, in what promises to be a thrilling commencement to their journey with FlyQuest.

This acquisition not only symbolizes a fresh start for the former Grayhound roster but also represents FlyQuest’s vision of nurturing talent and building successful, globally respected esports teams. With the backing of FlyQuest and the community’s support, the Australian squad is on a path to redefine their legacy and achieve new heights in the competitive CS2 arena.
