PGL Astana Day 2: Spirit, MongolZ Advance; GL, M80 Out

The second day of PGL Major Astana 2025 was marked by unexpected results and dramatic matchups. Spirit and The MongolZ became the first teams to qualify for the next stage with a flawless 3-0 record, while M80 and GamerLegion were eliminated early after suffering three straight losses.

Virtus.pro vs BIG (2-0)

The Russian squad VP gave BIG no chance. Dust2 was somewhat competitive, but VP were ruthless on Ancient — 13:3. FL1T was the standout player with 36 kills, 102.1 ADR, and a 1.58 rating.

FURIA vs MIBR (2-1)

The Brazilian derby went the full distance. FURIA started strong with a 13:4 win on Train, but MIBR responded with a 13:11 victory on Anubis. On the decider, Inferno, FURIA closed it out 13:8.

yuurih had the highest number of kills — 56, with an average damage of 98.1 and a rating of 1.50.

paiN vs ODDIK (2-0)

Another all-Brazilian clash ended in favor of paiN, though both maps were closely contested — 13:10 on Anubis and 13:11 on Nuke. ksloks led the way individually with 44 kills, 94.5 ADR, and a 1.48 rating.

GamerLegion vs HOTU (0-2)

HOTU pulled off one of the biggest surprises of the day, defeating GamerLegion 13:9 on Ancient and 13:6 on Mirage. The win propelled HOTU to 28th place in the HLTV rankings. dukefissura stood out with 38 kills, 96.7 ADR, and a 1.4 rating.

NiP vs Aurora (1-2)

Aurora continued to impress. They won Anubis 13:10, dropped Train 9:13 (highlighted by an ACE from r1nkle in round six), and closed out Inferno 13:8. Wicadia posted 59 kills, while XANTARES had 100.3 ADR and a 1.39 rating.

G2 vs M80 (2-1)

Despite having to play with coach TaZ instead of huNter- due to visa issues, G2 managed to edge out M80. All three maps were close — 13:11, 13:9, 13:10. malbsMd played a crucial role with 61 kills, 95 ADR, and a 1.37 rating.

Spirit vs Astralis (2-0)

A dominant performance by Spirit — 13:7 on Dust2 and 13:5 on Ancient. Astralis failed to win a single round on the T side of Dust2 and couldn’t hold their CT side on Ancient, which broke their momentum completely. Once again, donk delivered an outstanding performance with 45 kills, an average damage per round of 118.5, and an impressive 1.84 rating.

Spirit and The MongolZ were the first to punch their ticket to the next stage, finishing the opening phase with a perfect 3-0 record. Their consistency and team coordination stood out throughout the day. On the flip side, M80 and GamerLegion failed to claim a single win and were eliminated from PGL Astana 2025 with 0-3 results.
