NAVI suffered a disappointing loss in their advancement match at PGL Astana 2025, falling 2:0 to The MongolZ. Although both maps were tightly contested, it was the Asian squad who closed out the series and secured a spot in the next stage with a flawless 3-0 record.

NAVI started the tournament confidently, defeating both BIG and M80 with clean 2:0 scorelines. After a lackluster showing at the previous event in Melbourne, the team looked refreshed and determined, proving they were ready to fight. Fans expected a direct qualification from the black-and-yellow squad — but The MongolZ had other plans.

These two opening wins boosted the team’s morale and restored faith in the potential of the Aleksib-led lineup. It seemed like NAVI had finally found their rhythm and were ready to contend for top spots again.

Match vs. The MongolZ

The first map, Inferno, started promisingly for NAVI as they confidently took the first half 8:4, showing solid T-side execution. However, on the CT side they managed to secure only three rounds, allowing The MongolZ to clinch the map 13:11.

In key rounds, The MongolZ looked more composed, made good use of utility, and punished NAVI’s mistakes. The closing moments of the map were entirely under the control of the Mongolian side.

The second map, Mirage, was NAVI’s pick, but even on their home turf they couldn’t find the winning formula. Again, the scoreline was razor-thin — 13:11 in favor of The MongolZ.

Despite a few clutch rounds from b1t and strong entry frags by jL, NAVI failed to convert several numerical advantages. The MongolZ showcased great discipline and individual brilliance, especially when it mattered most.

The top performer for NAVI was their in-game leader Aleksib, who scored 36 kills across both maps with an average damage of 80.2. b1t also put up a solid performance, finishing with a 1.18 rating.

However, it wasn’t enough, as the rest of the team failed to provide consistent support during the match’s most crucial moments.

One more chance: NAVI prepare for a do-or-die matchup

Despite the loss, NAVI’s journey at the event is not over. They will have another opportunity to advance — this time facing a team with a 2-1 record. That opponent will be Virtus.pro, who are also fighting for a spot in the next stage. Meanwhile, The MongolZ have already secured their place with a dominant 3-0 run and continue to impress fans with their level of play.
