In the fall of 2025, Budapest, Hungary will become the epicenter of global CS2. StarLadder, one of the most renowned esports tournament organizers, has announced it will host the second Major of the season — promising spectators a grand-scale event with an atmosphere that’s set to leave a mark in Counter-Strike history.

StarLadder: Experience That Matters

Founded in 2011, StarLadder quickly became one of the leading tournament organizers in the esports world. The company has run its own StarSeries and Invitational tournaments across titles such as Dota 2, CS:GO, and Hearthstone. StarLadder is also known for its work in event management, studio and video production, global broadcasts, and support for an online platform serving amateur, semi-professional, and pro-level competitions.

The first season of StarSeries took place in 2012 in Kyiv, Ukraine, and was won by ESC Gaming. The tournament remained a fan favorite for the next seven years, with champions like NAVI, ENCE, Evil Geniuses, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Fnatic.

In 2019, StarLadder hosted its first CS:GO Major in Berlin — a milestone event in the company’s history.

Budapest Major 2025 — A Grand Return

The upcoming Major will run from November 24 to December 14. The Challengers and Legends stages will take place at the newly renovated MTK Sportpark (with a 2,000-seat capacity), while the Playoffs will be held in the massive 20,000-seat MVM Dome. This marks one of the largest venues ever used for a Counter-Strike Major. Organizers promise an unforgettable show featuring massive LED installations, immersive lighting, and a truly grand finals atmosphere.

A total of 32 of the world’s top teams will compete for a $1.25 million prize pool and one of the most prestigious trophies in esports.

Why This Matters for the CS2 Scene

This Major represents a significant step forward for the CS2 competitive scene. Following the release of the new game, the Budapest Major offers a unique opportunity to showcase CS2’s potential as a top-tier esport. A massive arena, a live audience, and a passionate European fanbase will help create the kind of electric atmosphere that many recent events have lacked.

For the players, it’s a new chapter of professional recognition — the chance to perform in front of 20,000 fans, handle the pressure of a grand stage, and etch their names into Counter-Strike history. For the fans, it’s an opportunity to witness world-class teams live, enjoy the festive charm of Budapest, and be part of one of the biggest CS2 events to date.
