Today marked the beginning of one of the most anticipated CS2 tournaments — PGL Astana 2025. The opening day brought fans plenty of excitement: thrilling matches, standout individual performances, and a few surprises. Let’s take a look at the top five players of Day 1, based on HLTV statistics.
biguzera (paiN) — Rating 1.57
In their opening match, the Brazilian squad paiN faced a weaker opponent on paper, but in CS2, underestimating your rival can cost you dearly. paiN remained composed and closed out both maps confidently. The standout player was biguzera, who racked up 35 kills and finished with a 1.57 rating.
sjuush (NIP) — Rating 1.48
This was NiP’s first major tournament of 2025, and they immediately surprised with a win over Virtus.pro, featuring the experienced electroNic. The match ended 2-1 in NiP’s favor, with sjuush emerging as the MVP. He recorded 58 kills, an average damage of 89.7, and a 1.48 rating.
In this clip, sjuush wipes out the entire attacking side with just a USP-S, landing four headshots in seconds. Perfect aim, composure, and a true mechanical showcase!
hyped (BIG) — Rating 1.47
German AWPer hyped kicked off his tournament in style, helping BIG defeat Aurora in a tough bo3 series. Although the match went the full distance with three maps played, that didn’t stop hyped from dominating. He finished with 67 kills, including 42 with the AWP, and closed the day with a 1.47 rating, one of the highest of the day.
dav1deuS (paiN) — Rating 1.45
Another paiN player makes the list — dav1deuS, who delivered a strong individual performance in the team’s opening match. His aggressive playstyle, 33 kills, and average damage of 100.8 secured him a spot among the top five performers. He was a key figure in the win, consistently making an impact in every round.
stavn (Astralis) — Rating 1.46
Despite internal issues, including the forced benching of cadiaN, Astralis managed to defeat ODDIK in a close 2-1 series. After a crushing 2:13 loss on Anubis, the Danes bounced back thanks to the standout performance of stavn. He racked up 54 kills, dealt 98.6 average damage, and posted a 1.46 rating. If Astralis can avoid such one-sided losses and stavn maintains his form, they could be a serious threat moving forward.
