Valve has released a major update for Counter-Strike 2 to mark the launch of Premier Season 3. The patch includes changes to the Active Duty map pool, weapon balance adjustments, new CT-side economy mechanics, and an important new feature for protecting item trades. Here’s what’s new.
Overpass Returns to Active Duty, Anubis Removed
The competitive map pool in CS2 has received a significant shake-up — Overpass makes its return to the Active Duty rotation, while Anubis has been removed. This marks the end of a 972-day run for Anubis in official play, during which it became a staple in both professional tournaments and ranked matchmaking. The return of Overpass brings back a fan-favorite map known for its verticality, dynamic rotations, and strong emphasis on map control.
Its comeback is expected to impact the competitive meta, prompting teams to revisit old strategies and adapt to the map’s unique challenges. Overpass will now be featured in tournament play, official matchmaking, and team practice, signaling a fresh shift in how top-tier CS2 will be played moving forward.
Premier Season 3 Kicks Off
Premier Season 3 starts today in CS2. Players can once again compete for a seasonal medal, with its color reflecting the highest CS Rating achieved during the season. For every 25 wins, a stripe will be added to the medal (up to a maximum of 5).
To earn the medal, you must:
- Achieve 25 Premier wins
- Maintain an active CS Rating at season’s end
- Have an account in good standing
Gameplay Changes
Incendiary grenades now spread fire faster, helping to slow down fast-paced T-side pushes.

The MP9 has been nerfed — it now has heavier spray control and significantly reduced jumping accuracy.
CT-side economy reworked: regardless of round outcome, CTs now receive a teamwide reward for each T eliminated during the round. This should reduce economic pressure in tough matches.
Item Trade Protection
A new trade security feature has been added. In the unlikely event that you lose access to your account or fall victim to a scam, you can now revoke all Counter-Strike trades made in the last 7 days. This provides an added layer of protection for your inventory.
