PGL Bucharest 2025 is the second big Counter-Strike 2 tournament in 2025 hosted by the famous organizer PGL. It will take place offline in Bucharest, Romania, at the PGL Studio from April 6 to April 13, 2025.
Format & Structure
The tournament will feature 16 top-tier teams battling it out for a share of the $1,250,000 prize pool, now equally divided between players and organizations in accordance with Valve’s new “Tournament Operating Requirements.”
- Group Stage: Swiss System Format
- Playoffs: Single-Elimination Bracket
- Broadcast: Dual-stream setup, ensuring wall-to-wall CS2 action
Invited Teams
This championship will bring together 16 top teams from around the world:
- 12 teams received direct invites based on the VRS Global rankings:
G2 Esports, The MongolZ, FaZe Clan, Eternal Fire, Team Falcons, Team Liquid, FURIA, Virtus.pro, GamerLegion, 3DMAX, Astralis, and paiN Gaming. - 4 more teams qualified through regional qualifiers in Europe, South America, North America, and Asia.
G2, Liquid, and FURIA are back after skipping Cluj-Napoca, thanks to improved prize revenue distribution. Spirit, Vitality, NAVI, and Cluj-Napoca champions MOUZ declined invitations. This leaves the door open for emerging teams like The MongolZ, Eternal Fire, Falcons, and FaZe to contend for the title in a slightly more open field.
Regional Qualifiers
- 🇪🇺 Europe:
32 teams competed, and Betclic Apogee Esports qualified after beating OG in the grand final 3–1.
- 🇿🇦 South America:
Legacy made it through by winning an intense grand final 3–2 over 9z Team.
- 🇺🇸 North America:
Complexity dominated the playoffs, winning 3–0 over Wildcard in the final.
- 🇨🇳 Asia:
Rare Atom qualified after a strong 3–0 victory over HOTU.
PGL Bucharest 2025 will be one of the first tier-one CS2 events to include open regional qualifiers, allowing new talent to challenge the best. With legendary organizations returning and newcomers growing, this event promises to be an exciting spectacle for fans all over the world; we won’t miss it!
