Counter-Strike 2 is coming back to Australia in electrifying fashion with IEM Melbourne 2025! For the very first time, the iconic Rod Laver Arena will play host to the playoff stage, welcoming fans from across the globe to experience the world-class action and unmatched atmosphere of Australian esports.
Following a sold-out IEM Sydney in 2023 and a brief pause in 2024, the next chapter of IEM Down Under promises to be bigger, louder, and more unforgettable than ever. With $1,000,000 on the line and a $300,000 chunk dedicated to the playoffs, the best teams on the planet are ready to battle it out in front of one of the most passionate crowds in CS2.
The Teams & Format
16 elite squads will compete, including titans like Vitality, Natus Vincere, and FaZe, all of whom know what it takes to win on Australian soil. Portuguese squad SAW steps in for Aurora, while Complexity replaces Spirit due to health concerns.

- Group Stage: Two double-elimination groups (BO3)
- Top 3 from each group advance to the playoffs

10 teams received direct invitations based on ESL’s global rankings, while 6 others earned their place through the VRS regional qualifiers across Americas, Asia, and Europe. While powerhouses like G2, FURIA, and Astralis declined invites, the event is still stacked with elite-level competition and international flavor.
