After a disappointing season and key roster departures, G2 are preparing for a rebuild. The European giants are planning to hand the in-game leader (IGL) role to Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač and are actively looking for a new player to replace Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski.
A season of disappointment for G2
G2 entered 2025 with high ambitions but only achieved notable results at two events: a 3rd-4th place finish at the BLAST Bounty 2025 Season 1 Finals and a runner-up placement at PGL Bucharest — the last tournament for m0NESY in the team. After losing two key players — m0NESY and NiKo — the team’s performance declined significantly.
At the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, G2 placed only 9th-11th and ended the season with hades standing in and huNter- absent from PGL Astana due to visa issues.
G2 enter a new era with huNter- as IGL
According to reports from HLTV and Croissant Strike, G2 are seeking a replacement for Snax, who is expected to leave the roster. huNter- is set to take over as in-game leader, despite previously refusing the role multiple times. In a September 2024 interview, he revealed that G2 had asked him “at least five times” to become IGL, but he had declined each time.
However, in 2025, huNter- and m0NESY were already responsible for most of the calls on the CT side, while Snax took on anchor roles with limited strategic responsibility. G2 are now considering several potential additions, with 18-year-old xKacpersky — who has averaged a 1.15 rating since joining ENCE from Young Ninjas — reportedly among their top targets.
Can huNter- lead G2’s revival?
Appointing huNter- as IGL could be a turning point for G2. Despite the added pressure of leadership, his individual performance over the past three months remains strong:

- KAST: 77.2%
- ADR: 76.1
These numbers indicate that huNter- is capable of maintaining personal consistency while leading the team. Now, with former ENCE coach sAw at the helm and Spanish AWPer SunPayus joining the roster, G2 could benefit from a fresh tactical identity. The combination of sAw’s system, SunPayus’ firepower, and huNter-‘s leadership could help the team reach new heights in the upcoming season.
