G2 Esports has announced changes in its CS2 coaching staff — legendary Polish player and coach Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas is leaving the organization. He will be replaced by Finnish strategist Eetu “sAw” Saha, who previously worked with Heroic and ENCE. In this article, we cover TaZ’s achievements with G2 and take a closer look at the new head coach.
TaZ’s achievements
Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas led G2 for over a year. During this time, the team achieved a number of strong results at top-tier events:
- Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2024 — 5–6th place
- PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 — 3–4th place
- Intel Extreme Masters Chengdu 2024 — 3–4th place
- Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2024 — 1st place
- Esports World Cup 2024 — 2nd place
- BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2024 — 1–4th place
- ESL Pro League Season 20 — 3–4th place
- BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2024 — 1st place
- BLAST Premier: World Final 2024 — 1st place
- Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 — 3–4th place
However, after the departure of key players m0NESY and NiKo, G2’s performance declined noticeably. Despite some progress at their latest tournament, the team only managed a 9–11th place finish, which fell short of the organization’s expectations.
After 18 months with G2, TaZ is parting ways with the team. In his farewell post, he shared warm words of gratitude and reflection.
My dear Colleagues and Friends,
My time at G2 has come to an end. Thank you for an incredible 18 months together.@G2huNter @NiKoCS_ – From day one, you made me feel at home. I’ll always treasure our conversations, the moments of victory, and even the tough losses we faced…— TAZ (@g5taz) June 19, 2025
Players on TaZ’s Farewell
After TaZ published his farewell post on X, both former and current players showed their support. They left warm and humorous comments, once again highlighting the team’s atmosphere and the respect TaZ earned:
NiKo:
“Good luck in whatever comes next bro.”
huNter-:
“Thanks for everything, and cheers, TaZ. I love your bald, wise head. See you soon again.”
malbsMd:
“Thank you for everything, Wik.”
hades:
“‘Good times will come’ pamiętaj Wiciu!! Was a pleasure.”
m0NESY:
“I hope you liked those fresh juices. Best of luck wherever you go.”
Even in farewell, there’s a sense of respect, gratitude, and lightheartedness — TaZ leaves behind not just trophies, but fond memories in the hearts of the players.
Who is sAw?
The new head coach of G2 will be Eetu “sAw” Saha, an experienced Finnish tactician who most recently worked with Heroic. Under his guidance, Heroic posted solid results:
- CCT Season 2 Global Finals 2025 — 1st place
- MESA Nomadic Masters Spring 2025 — 1st place
- Thunderpick World Championship 2024 — 2nd place
- Before that, sAw coached ENCE and also led them to major international success:
- PGL Major Antwerp 2022 — 3–4th place
- ESL Pro League Season 15 — 2nd place
- Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2023 — 2nd place
- Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2023 — 1st place
Known for his consistency and adaptability, sAw has earned a reputation as one of the most reliable strategists in the scene. Now, he faces the challenge of rebuilding G2 after a turbulent period. He will be joined by SunPayus, a skilled AWPer previously with ENCE and Heroic, who is expected to become the team’s new main sniper.

A new direction for G2: a chance to rebuild and stabilize
On paper, the addition of sAw and SunPayus looks like a well-calculated step toward refreshing and stabilizing the team after losing their star players. sAw has a proven track record of achieving success with rosters that relied on structure and discipline rather than individual firepower. His methods could have a positive impact on G2, which now needs a new identity after the NiKo and m0NESY era.
At the same time, SunPayus is a sniper capable of turning games around with individual brilliance, though he may need some time to adjust. If G2 gives the new coach full authority and enough time to rebuild, the team has a realistic chance to return to title contention in the coming months.
