Tournament organizer Perfect World has officially announced the CS Asia Championships 2026 — one of the largest CS2 events for the Asia region. The tournament will take place in Shanghai from May 18 to 24, with a total prize pool of $1,000,000.
Shanghai, 16 Teams, and a $1,000,000 Prize Pool
In addition to the classic 16-team format, where several teams will receive direct invitations, the organizers emphasized the tournament’s strict participation rules. These rules go beyond gameplay conduct and include regulations on sponsorship branding, social media activity, and compliance with Chinese law.
Here’s how the 16 participating teams will be determined:
- 12 teams will receive direct invites based on the Valve rankings;
- 2 teams will qualify through a closed Asian qualifier;
- 2 wildcard invitations will be granted by the organizers.
With a $1,000,000 prize pool and global attention, Perfect World made it clear: this is not just a show event — it’s a serious competition with high standards for discipline and professionalism.
Strict Rules for All Participants
Along with the tournament announcement, Perfect World also released a list of strict guidelines for teams and players:
- Branding and team appearance (uniforms, names, logos, sponsor elements) must be reviewed and approved by the organizers.
This especially applies to sponsors that are prohibited in China, such as gambling, blockchain projects, and skin/case opening services. - Teams or players previously sanctioned by other tournament organizers or Valve for violations related to integrity or behavior may face similar penalties from Perfect World.
- Actions by teams or individuals — including on social media — that violate local laws or hosting country regulations may result in disciplinary action or disqualification.
