BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 is the first CS2 Major of the year, set to take place from June 3 to June 22 in Austin, Texas, USA. The tournament will feature the 32 best teams in the world, competing for the championship title and a $1,250,000 prize pool. This is a historic event, marking the first CS2 Major officially held on the new Source 2 engine.
Players, coaches, and analysts already regard the BLAST.tv Austin Major as the most important event of the first half of the year. This tournament could shift the global power rankings and answer the question: who is the best team in the new Counter-Strike era?
Tournament Format
The event is structured in three main stages:
- Stage 1 (June 3–6) — 16 teams compete in a Swiss-system format. The top 8 advance.
- Stage 2 (June 7–10) — 8 new teams join the tournament, invited based on their Valve Regional Standings (VRS).
- Stage 3 (June 12-22) — 8 more teams with the highest VRS rankings join to complete the top 24.
Matches are played in a BO1 format, except for elimination/advancement matches which are BO3. The Grand Final will also be BO3 — not BO5, as seen in some CS:GO events.
This multi-layered system helps reduce randomness and ensures a fair and competitive environment. It also gives teams from all over the world a chance to shine on the biggest stage.
