Plenty of insights can already be drawn after Day 1 of IEM Cologne 2025 — from which teams look in good form to which roster changes had a positive or negative impact. But most importantly, we now know who’s one step closer to advancing to the main stage.

All Results from Day 1

Looking purely at results, there were a few surprises. For instance, nobody expected Virtus.pro to beat TYLOO, let alone with a clean 2-0 scoreline. Another highlight was the FlyQuest vs. FURIA match — it was extremely close, and FlyQuest actually looked solid throughout. At times, it even felt like they were going to take the series. Situation After Day 1

Winners of the opening matches move on to the qualification matches, while the losers are now one step away from elimination. Matches continue tomorrow — all times are in CEST:

Top Performers After Day 1

The standout player of the first day was Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard, who ended the match with a 1.58 rating against B8 in a 2-0 victory. The top three also includes Fredrik “REZ” Sterner and Lucas “Lucky” Chastang, who posted ratings of 1.46 and 1.45 respectively.

The tournament itself is held in two stages, from the first stage 8 teams will pass to the main stage of IEM Cologne 2025, where they are already waiting for 8 teams on VRS rating. The date is July 23 through August 3 and the prize pool is $1,000,000.
