Peacemaker: FaZe a Wildcard, Falcons Face BO1 Risk at Major

Ahead of the second stage of the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, renowned coach Peacemaker shared his thoughts on the top contenders. He believes Falcons and FaZe both have the potential to reach the playoffs, but each team comes with its own risks. In his comments, he focused on the volatility of best-of-one matches, the importance of experience, and the impact of s1mple.

Falcons: On paper favorites, but BO1 danger looms

Falcons enter Stage 2 of the Major as one of the tournament’s most stacked lineups. With a star-studded roster, they’re expected to outperform most opponents both individually and tactically. However, Peacemaker warns that the BO1 format could be their undoing — especially if they come into a match off-form or make a poor veto.

“Falcons are a tier and a half above most opponents. If they don’t advance — it’ll be a disaster. But BO1s are a danger zone. If they’re not in form, things can go sideways. People expect Falcons to destroy everyone — but CS doesn’t work like that.”

Peacemaker emphasizes that BO1 games leave no room for error. One bad veto, a slow start, or an off day can derail even the strongest teams. Even those with lower rankings can catch Falcons off guard. That’s why he believes the team must remain focused and avoid underestimating anyone — especially in this format.

FaZe: Unpredictable, but full of potential

As for FaZe, Peacemaker had an interesting take — calling them the “wildcard” of this stage. It’s a team with immense potential, but also one that remains unpredictable. The spotlight, of course, is on s1mple, who recently joined the roster:

“I coached s1mple back in the day. His drive, his hunger to prove everyone wrong — that hasn’t changed. If he puts in the hours, he’ll be one of the best again. You simply can’t deny his GOAT status.”

Peacemaker believes s1mple is still as driven as ever and that FaZe’s success will largely depend on his form and dedication. He also praised the return of rain, calling him a vital part of the team’s structure, especially for supporting younger players:

“Rain and karrigan know they’re not the youngest anymore — and they do a great job creating space for stars like frozen and aLeksib. Their stability and experience are a big strength.”

He added that rain helps karrigan feel more comfortable in-game, thanks to their years of chemistry. Veterans like them form the backbone that allows younger talent to shine.

Still, FaZe will immediately face a serious challenge — Heroic — in their opening match:

“That’s a very tough match. If FaZe lose, people will instantly start talking about failure — but that wouldn’t be fair. Heroic are in great form, and anything can happen.”

Peacemaker closed with a cheeky remark that reflects s1mple’s mindset and competitive fire:

“He won’t lose to some damn bots. Trust me.”

High expectations — and high risks

Stage 2 of the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 promises to be highly competitive: even favorites like Falcons and FaZe can’t afford to slip. The BO1 format, tournament pressure, and newly formed rosters all add to the unpredictability. In the end, it will come down to details — a clean veto, a strong start, or a moment of brilliance. As Peacemaker points out, talent and status alone don’t guarantee success.
