BLAST.tv Austin Major Day 3: Complexity, Imperial & Chinggis Out

The third day of the BLAST.tv CS2 Austin Major was marked by dramatic elimination matches. Three teams say goodbye to the tournament: Complexity, Imperial, and Chinggis Warriors. For each of them, it was a painful exit, as the stakes were incredibly high.

Complexity vs TYLOO: a Chinese upset

Both teams entered the elimination match with a 1–2 record. While TYLOO were clear underdogs at this stage, Complexity were seen as favorites expected to advance with relative ease. However, as is often the case, CS2 proves once again that surprises are never far away.

The opening map was Train, picked by Complexity. The first half ended in a 6–6 tie, but in the second half, the Chinese squad completely seized control, closing it out 13–8. On Dust2, TYLOO’s pick, Complexity led 10–5 after the first half and were just three rounds away from forcing a decider on Anubis. But TYLOO rallied, winning seven rounds in a row to take the map and the series 2–0 in a stunning upset.

This was Complexity’s 10th Major appearance, a milestone — but unfortunately, one that ends earlier than they hoped. TYLOO, on the other hand, get one last chance to qualify for the next stage in a 2–2 decider match against Legacy.

Imperial vs Legacy: opportunity seized

The match kicked off on Inferno, Legacy’s map pick. The Australians dominated the first half 11–1 and quickly wrapped up the game 13–2. On Dust2, picked by Imperial, the Brazilians returned the favor — also winning the first half 11–1 and closing it out 13–5.

It all came down to Mirage, and Legacy showed they were ready to fight — a convincing 13–4 win secured the series and kept their Major hopes alive. They now face TYLOO in a 2–2 elimination match.

It’s especially remarkable considering that Legacy didn’t qualify through the regional stage, having lost to Bestia in the final. However, due to visa issues, Bestia couldn’t attend the Major, and Legacy stepped in. Now they’re making the most of this second chance.

After the win, the team posted an emotional message on their X (formerly Twitter) account:

“Let’s go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2-1 against Imperial, and we’re still in the Major league!”

Imperial, in turn, thanked their fans:

“Our journey at BLASTtvMAJOR Austin comes to an end!
1:2 vs Legacy.
Huge thanks to everyone who cheered and supported us until the end.”

Also dust2_br on X (Twitter) posted Imperial’s reaction to the victory.

Chinggis Warriors vs Lynn Vision: a battle to the end

The first map was Inferno, picked by Lynn Vision, who claimed it with a solid 13–9 victory. Chinggis Warriors bounced back on their own map, taking five rounds in a row to close it 13–10 and push the series to a decider on Ancient.

Ancient ended in a 12–12 tie, sending the game to overtime. There, Lynn Vision stayed calm under pressure and closed out the series 16–13. Chinggis Warriors finish the Major with a 1–3 record, while Lynn Vision move into the 2–2 pool, keeping their Stage 2 dreams alive.

Favorites out, underdogs march on

Day three of the BLAST.tv CS2 Austin Major served as a stark reminder: there’s no room for error at a Major — even favorites can fall early. Complexity, Imperial, and Chinggis Warriors are out, while TYLOO, Legacy, and Lynn Vision continue their fight for a spot in Stage 2. High-stakes elimination matches await, where every round could be the last.
