Systemic PC requirements for running CS:GO game in 2023

The game CS:GO is constantly improving and adjusting to technological innovations. Every year, a full-fledged game becomes more and more demanding for PC’s system requirements. It is essential to deal with the minimum characteristics that will allow you to play “CS:GO,” at least in low settings.
Statistics on our site show that CS:GO launches 90% of computers, not only on modern ones but also on the “old guys.” You may launch the game even with minimal system requirements. But if you want a full-fledged and exciting game without lags, crashes, and freezes, parameters are required, not lower than the manufacturer recommended or higher. We will analyze both options in more detail.
What game characteristics are the most significant?
Many characteristics notably impact the load of the central processor, RAM, and video memory.
These include:
- reflection;
- glare and shadows;
- smoothing the image;
- maximum screen resolution;
- vertical synchronization;
- Dynamic lighting.
If the computer is not too powerful, reducing these parameters often solves the problem. Their decrease for minimal marks, typically, allows you to achieve the stability of the FPS and, accordingly, comfortably play without wrecks.
Minimum requirements

By minimal requirements for launching the game, you should understand the characteristics of a computer that just allow you to open “CS:GO.” There are no guarantees of its correct work. There is a risk of regular collapses and getting annoyingly repeating errors, which, of course, will negatively affect the general impression of the game. Also, the minimum requirements will allow you to run the whole environment and gameplay process only by the lowest graphics settings, which also worsens the game perception – the textures will not be detailed.
CS:GO – the minimum requirements in which the game is possible to launch on a PC:
- 7.6 GB of free space on the disk on which the game will be installed;
- OS – “Windows” XP;
- DirectX – version 9.0C;
- Central processor – Intel Core 2 Duo (allowed to use an analogue from AMD manufacturer);
- The video card – any card (for example, ATI Radeon HD 2900 or NVIDIA GeForce 8800) which has 256/512 MB of free memory; support for shader 3.0 is essential;
- RAM – should be 2 GB (if the game is launched on Windows Vista – at least 3 GB will be needed).
Additionally, a keyboard and a mouse will be needed – with their help, control is performed. They can be any.
Recommended requirements
Recommended system requirements are called those that the manufacturer himself indicates. These parameters are enough for the correct game on almost maximum settings. Accordingly, it will be possible to feel the full atmosphere and enjoy the gameplay entirely.
The manufacturer implies the following recommended CS:GO requirements:
- At least 15 GB on the drive where the game will be installed;
- OS – at least Windows Vista, and better – later versions;
- The central processor should be with a version not earlier than Intel Core i3 (or analogue from AMD), and more productive ones will become an additional advantage;
- RAM should be 4 GB or more;
- The video card should support at least 1 GB of video memory (or more) and 3.0 shaders.
There are no maximum system requirements as such. You can take any modern PC on top hardware, and the game will work flawlessly at the best settings. In general, it is precisely for “CS:GO” that a PC with average parameters is enough. This is reasonably sufficient for the correct deployment without errors.
Can you launch the game on Linux or macOS?
Owners of computers and laptops on macOS and Linux often suffer from the impossibility of launching games. Fortunately, this does not apply to “CS:GO.” It is enough to comply with the requirements of CS:GO, and the launch will be possible.
The following parameters are essential for macOS:
- Apple OS version – 10.11;
- from 15 GB of free space on the disk;
- WG – Core Duo from “Intel” and further (clock frequency – 2 Hz);
- The video card is NVIDIA 8600M or Radeon HD 2400, as well as the better options;
- RAM – 2 GB and higher.
The difference between the operating system and Apple is that it is closed. It is more optimized’ therefore, the requirements differ.
For Linux CS:GO, system requirements are the following:
- OS – Ubuntu 12 and subsequent versions;
- free space on the disk – from 15 GB;
- The central processor is a minimum of Intel Core 2 Duo or an analogue of the AMD brand;
- RAM – 4 GB and more;
- The video card is at least the GeForce 8600 or the Radeon HD 2600 (OpenGL 2.1 support should be active).
All these parameters are very loyal. Almost any modern computer or laptop will efficiently run CS: GO on medium and higher settings. And the old PCs will easily start a game on minimums.
